This week’s author is Kaytie Marie. We have gotten to know each other better over the past six months via social media. Let’s hear what she has to say!
What inspired you to start writing?
I’ve always written down my dreams. I use to have night terrors and I’d write them down as a form of therapy. Soon, I started making stories from my dreams and everything escalated from there.
How do you handle writer’s block?
Usually, I switch to another project. If that doesn’t work, I go to sleep thinking about it for a week straight and try to dream of what needs to happen. I’ve been surprisingly successful with that technique.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I’m a writer? 😂 No, seriously, it was shortly after I published my novel. I had someone I’d never met before message me and ask me what was going to happen next. She was in tears when I told her there wasn’t going to be a second book, so I gave in. That was when it clicked that I had actually published something and was a writer.
What is the most difficult part about writing for you?
Defining my books. It’s so hard when someone asks me what my books are about or what I write. I have no clue what to tell them without giving away the story, so I usually down play it.
What are the tools of the trade?
People. I couldn’t do anything without my tribe. I know most people say a computer or pen and paper, but to me, without my people around me, I’d never get a book done.
Is writing your full time career? If not, what do you do for a living?
Unfortunately, not at this time. I work as a medical Billing Clerk at a FQHC Monday through Friday. It’s my desire to one day be able to write full time, but with 3 kids under 12, I need the steady income.
What was your favorite part, and your least favorite part, of the publishing journey?
I love watching my readers reaction, teasing them with what’s to come and watching the dots connect as they finish up the book. On the flip side, I hate trying to hold it all back and not just tell my readers what is coming.
Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.
I think my favorite character I’ve ever written is Luci. He is the price of the underworld in my WIP and he is just so …. Unique. He starts off as not wanting to do what’s required of him, but it flips completely eventually.

Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with your readers about?
I have 2 manuscripts I’m bouncing between. And the first chapter of one is posted in my group right now!
How many plot ideas are just waiting to be written? Can you tell us about one?
At least 8 right now. One of them, is a twist on Scrooge’s story. But it has nothing to do with the holidays. It’s about reflection of how the FMC see herself and the importance she hold to the people around her.

I love to make peanut butter cookies. Just 1 cup of peanut butter, one cup of sugar, and one cup of flour. Mix together, roll in an inch ball, and smack with a fork. Bake on 325 for about 20 mins and then eat them all before your kids know you made them 😂
